I prefer growing them off the ground on strings or netting. My biggest pest problem every year are the striped cucumber beetles. They themselves don't seem to do much damage but the bacterial wilt they spread usually destroys a lot of my plants. Reply View reply Irvin Wittmeier Irvin Wittmeier1 week ago Nice video !;-)Thankyou Reply View reply Unleash The Fury Unleash The Fury2 weeks ago (edited) im confused About identifying the growth point. so you have the main stalk, but as the plant grows donesnt it get bigger by producing more stalks or "branches" and leaves? will that growth point not produce cukes at some point? so a properly pruned plant consists of just the main stalk, and leaves and cukes that grow out from that main stalk? i thought cukes emerged from flowers. and i thought flowers grew on "branches" that it appears shes cutting off. i hope someone understand what im trying to say. in other words it looks like she cut off something that could potentially produce more fruit. but apparently not. because she said "this is your growth point that is producing everything so you wanna get rid of that". to me that sounds counter intuitive. what does she mean by everything. It would be awesome if you grew a few outside in a typical outdoor garden *not growing up a string*. Then make a video next year. That way I could get a better idea "how to" in my typical poor woman's garden. The pepper video took me a cpl times to watch to grasp since mine are not on a string.
