Used by the Amish and Native Americans for cancer, osage orange is an overlooked natural medicine. It inhibits growth of many different tumor cell lines. Typical dose is 2 tablespoons twice daily. It will induce some diarrhea shortly after initiating treatment, but this resolves with continued use. Maclura pomifera contains an mTor inhibitor which slows tumor growth.

As kids, we were told not to eat them and that they were likely poisonous. Apparently, not true!

No, they are non-toxic. I ate them twice a day for a month. I did get one episode diarrhea on day 3, which is expected, and resolved quickly. I just posted a bunch of scientific studies above.

I've processed them for the seeds as I've read that was the only edible part. Can I ask where you found sources that claim the flesh is both tolerable to eat and has medicinal properties ?

No problem! I posted links to scientific studies, which you can also find using Google, Pub Med, or NCBI. The fruit is tolerable, if you don't mind some initial diarrhea. I put some in the freezer, took it out and grated it with cheese grater. Then I ate two tablespoons twice a day for a month. On day 3 I developed one episode of diarrhea, which is expected. That resolved quickly. My back pain was gone by day 3 or 4.
I continue to use this once a day.
