The change in name was in compliance with the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry policy barring the use of the word 'Philippines' in business names. The Company started selling exclusively mahogany seedlings in 2009 but a long, extensive dry spell in 2010 momentarily stunted its operations. Initially, Mahogany World served as the source of seedlings for a seven-hectare mahogany forest plantation that the owner started in southern Quezon Province in February 2009. The forest plantation was projected to accomodate more than 16,000 seedlings. Hypothetically, a perfectly square parcel of land can accomodate 2,500 mahogany trees planted on two-meter spacing both ways. Now with a renewed commitment to pursue its mission statement, "Cover the World Green", Mahogany World is poised to restart selling mahogany seedlings by July or August 2011. Seedlings that will be available for purchases are from 40 centimeters (16 inches) to 76 centimeters (30 inches) tall. Mahogany seedlings beyond the normal commercial heights may be made available upon prior arrangement with Mahogany Philippines.
